Bright Horizons provides the following confidential and free services:
Individual Advocacy
- Individual support, education, and information concerning domestic and sexual violence
- Referrals to other service providers in the community for financial, housing, legal, counseling, and educational assistance.
- Bilingual translation and services provided for Hispanic domestic and sexual violence victims
- Limited Emergency Financial Assistance
Shelter Services
- Confidential shelter facility for those fleeing an unsafe situation
- One-on-one advocacy with a case manager helps one to assess their situation, evaluate options, and make safe decisions
- Groceries and personal supplies are provided as needed
- Transitional Shelter
Support Groups
- Weekly peer support group for women who have experienced domestic violence
- Call the Bright Horizons office at 379-2026 in Norfolk and 336-1774 in O’Neill for meeting time
- Children’s Group is offered to give kids an opportunity to process the violence they have witnessed
- Spanish Support Group in Norfolk
Community Education / Outreach & Prevention
Provides community education concerning:
- Domestic and Dating Violence
- Sexual Assault
- Stalking
- Bullying
- Human Trafficking
- Healthy Relationships and other related topics
- Free educational materials available
Protection Orders
- Application forms for domestic abuse and harassment protection orders are available at the Bright Horizons office
- Assistance with forms and applications process is available
- Provides support at the protection order hearing if requested
Criminal Justice and Legal Advocacy
- Accompany victims through the court process if requested
- Includes both criminal and civil proceedings related to domestic violence and sexual assault
