This fall, Atkinson residents and fans of Atkinson, participated in the inaugural Big Give Atkinson 24-hour giving event that benefitted 13 organizations and nonprofits that serve Atkinson raising $17,270. This newly formed annual initiative, launched by the Atkinson Community Foundation Fund, was a unique, high-visible promotion of personal giving designed to bring new donors and dollars to local nonprofits and organizations. Donors utilized all three options for giving:  online, by mail and by visiting the Giving Station. Donors that paid a visit to the Giving Station were treated to free drinks compliments of Balers Grill.

“We are extremely proud to bring this type of philanthropy event to Atkinson, and we couldn’t be happier about the response we received from 74 donors that were from Atkinson and other communities.” said Monique Johnson, Chairperson for the Big Give Atkinson event and Vice President of the Atkinson Community Foundation Fund.

The Atkinson Senior Center had the most donors (27), therefore, won the $500 prize compliments of the Atkinson Community Foundation Fund.

We achieved our one BIG goal for this event…Make Atkinson a better place to live, work and play.  Save the date for next year’s Big Give Atkinson 24-hour giving event on October 26 and 27, 2013.

Bright Horizons received $250 in donations through this promotion.  This funding will be used to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault from Atkinson.  Linda Olson, Executive Director, stated “This was a great opportunity to partner with other non-profit organizations that serve the Atkinson community.  The Atkinson community has always been very supportive of Bright Horizons and it was wonderful to receive donations from current and past Atkinson residents.”

If you would like to make a donation to Bright Horizons this holiday season we now have the capabilities of accepting on-line donations on our web site through Razoo.  All donations are tax deductible and are very much appreciated!
